DESCRIPTION

The Modnestic 14PCS Bolt & Nut Extractor Socket Set is thirteen Cr-Mo sockets plus a drive adapter, for bolt and nut heads that are rounded off, chewed up, or painted and rusted past the point a normal socket can hold.

Each socket has a tapered spiral flute machined inside it. You pick the socket one size below the damaged head, tap it on with a hammer until it seats, and turn counter-clockwise with a 3/8" drive. The flutes cut into whatever corners are left, and the harder the fastener resists, the deeper they wedge in — until it backs out with the socket.

No drilling, no cutting, no welding a nut on top. The fastener comes out whole and the part around it is untouched.

HOW TO USE

1. Match the size. Pick the socket that is one size below the rounded head, so it has to bite rather than slip over. Snug is what makes it work.

2. Tap it on. Seat the socket on the head with a few taps of a hammer until it grips firmly. This is the step people skip, and it is the step that makes the difference.

3. Turn it counter-clockwise. Fit a 3/8" ratchet, breaker bar or impact wrench. The included 1/4" hex adapter lets you drive it from a drill or impact driver instead. The flutes bite deeper the more the fastener resists, and it backs out with the socket.

4. Knock it back out. The fastener grips the socket hard — that is the point. Drive it out from the open end with a punch or another bolt.

Steady pressure does the work, not speed. If the fastener is rusted solid, give it penetrating oil and twenty minutes before you start.

Will this work on a bolt that's completely rounded off? +

That's the case it's built for. Pick the socket one size below the damaged head so it has to bite, tap it on with a hammer until it seats, then turn counter-clockwise. The flutes inside cut into whatever corners are left, so there is nothing smooth for it to slip on.

What tools do I need? +

Do I have to drill anything? +
